Girl dies after a Red Sea Locality Mayor refuses to carry her in his car to the hospital, President of Tawasol Party blames Bashir for the deteriorating situation in South Tokar.

April 3, 2012–Aisha Taher, a 17-year-old girl passed away in the morning following a sharp decline in blood circulation as explained by Dr. Eiman Nour-Al-Huda in the death certificate.

According to her family that resides in the Darheb area close to where the mayor of Ageeg locality in the Southern part of Red Sea state resides, the family has asked the mayor to transport the girl who was in a critical condition using his car to  Port Sudan where she can receive medical treatment  and their request was rejected by the mayor who said that his car is only allowed to transport officials. The source who is a family member said that the girl was transported to Port Sudan on a bus used by a student union that visited the area to offer health services and she arrived on Monday evening in critical shape and passed away on Tuesday morning.

The vice secretary-general of the South Toker student union that transported the girl, Fayez Omar, said that he is saddened by the
incident. He commented on what they saw in South Toker by saying ” we have nothing new to add, its just the same tragedy and misery.” Omar pointed out that the price of a bag of maize in the area is 180 Sudanese pounds at a time where there is almost no source of income and maize is the main source of nutrition.

Omar explained that the community in a number of villages condemned the silence of the government on armed gangs that roam their areas and kidnap women and children and steal their belongings.

From his side, the President of Tawasol Party who also heads the opposition coalition in Red Sea state, Hamed Mohamed Ali, described the situation in South Toker as a crime blamed on the state.

Mohamed emphasized that, “all national institutions and state institutions are aware of the situation there, but are turning a blind eye”, and mentioned  President Bashir’s visits to the state and the “happiness and joy in touristic festivities and his unfulfilled promises to visit the area.”

   توفيت صباح الثلاثاء بمستشفي بورتسودان عائشة طاهر ادريس البالغة من العمر 17 عاماً بهبوط حاد في الدورة الدموية، كما أعلنت الطبيبة بالمستشفي إيمان نور الهدي في شهادة الوفاة.

ووفقاً لمصدر من اسرة عائشة المقيمة بمنطقة درهيب القريبة من مقر اقامة معتمد محلية عقيق جنوب ولاية البحر الاحمر بشرق السودان، فقد طلبت الاسرة من المعتمد نقل ابنتهم التي كانت في وضع حرج عبر عربة المعتمد للعلاج في مدينة بورتسودان، غير ان المعتمد رفض ذلك بحجة (أن عربته لاتنقل إلا الدستوريين فقط)، واضاف المصدر ان الفتاة تم نقلها لبورتسودان عبر بص يتبع لرابطة طلابية كانت تزور المنطقة لتقديم خدمات علاجية، ووصلت بورتسودان مساء الاثنين في وضع حرج لحين مفارقتها الحياة صباح الثلاثاء.

في السياق، ابدي نائب الامين العام لرابطة طلاب جنوب طوكر التي حملت الفتاة معها فايز عمر حزنه علي الحادثة، وقال إن ماشاهدوه في مناطق جنوب طوكر إمتدادٌ لما عكسته القوافل السابقة واضاف “ليس لدينا من جديد نقوله هي المعاناة والبؤس فقط”، وأشار لوصول سعر جوال الذرة في المنطقة لـ 180 جنيه في الوقت الذي تنعدم فيه مصادر الدخل وتشكل الذرة مصدر الغذاء الرئيسي.

واوضح عمر ان اهالي عدد من القري ادانوا الصمت الحكومي علي ممارسات العصابات المسلحة التي تتحرك في مناطقهم “وتقوم بخطف الاطفال والنساء ونهب الممتلكات”.

من جهته، وصف رئيس حزب التواصل ـ رئيس تحالف المعارضة بولاية البحر الاحمر ـ حامد محمد علي الوضع في جنوب طوكر (بالجريمة التي يتحملها راس الدولة)، وشدد حامد علي أن كل مؤسسات الدولة القومية والولائية تعلم بالاوضاع هناك ولكنها تغض الطرف عما يجري لحاجةٍ في نفسها، واستدل حامد بزيارات البشير الممتالية للولاية “والفرح والبهجة في مهرجانات السياحة ووعوده بزيارة المنطقة التي لم ينفذها”.
